Public Education Campaign
Educating the public about mental health issues promotes psychology to the general public, family members of those needing care, other professionals that can refer behavioral health care to their patients and clients and to lawmakers who decide on the regulatory future of psychology. These initiatives are supported by a strong committee, integration with the American Psychological Association (APA) and the NYSPA Foundation contributions. Over the years campaigns have included Stress in America, Aging Well Initiative, Mind/Body Health and Awareness, and Psychotherapy Awareness. Campaigns are actively promoted in public health fairs in targeted communities, media campaigns and through a wide use of social media outlets. Your contributions to this effort assist in the development and distribution of educational materials and providing necessary visibility to those that make the rules in our society. You can get involved by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org and indicating that you are interested in being a part of the PEC committee or specific efforts.
